Tangaloor Nothing but the Best, DOB Dec.26 - 2009, Slovenian Youth Champion, Slovenian Champion
In 2009 Regina from Germany contacted me, she had found the Silken Windhounds on Internet and would like to meet them life before deciding to share her life with one. Of course we had snow the day she came to visit but the Silkens worked their magic and Regina was completely smitten when she returned home.
She surfed the Internet, looking for litters that she might like and that way she found the Tangaloor "Nothing but" litter. When she could not get the tri-color boy she decided for the red brindle brother. As I already had organised a co-ownership of Allagante Windspirit Serrat with Christine (also in Germany), I offered Regina the same conditions.
After the usual stresses and waiting period, April 30-2010 we would collect our Nothing but the Best from Schiphol. Unfortunately Regina could not take him home as she had to stay in a clinic for 3 months. To make matters even worse the puppy's papers weren't ok so he had to stay another 48 hours @ the Animal Hotel on Amsterdam Airport. Luckily we were allowed 15 minutes to smooch with him, and take some photos but it was a very disappointed Regina who went home the same day.... May 2 the missing form had arrived and Cate & I could take the little boy home with us. Once home, I leashed Paladin so he could come along for Aponi's (Butterfly in an Indian language, and his call name) very first walk in the neighbourhood. That worked out well, Aponi watched Paladin move and copied his behaviour, feeling more secure in his company. From then on Aponi fitted seamlessly into the pack and found his playmate in Brocade. As Dandy had broken his frontleg 3 months earlier, he wasn't allowed to roughhouse with the baby for fear of another accident. Paladin was less interested in a boy so most of the raising was done by Brocade.
In August we brought Aponi to Regina but the combination of a young dog, 2 cats and she not being all herself proved to be too much and when one of the cats decided to attack Aponi to show his dislike, all we could do was return to take Aponi back to The Hague with us....and ever since he lives with us. He has been to obedience class (+ diploma), been to several shows where he got his SLO Youth Ch. & SLO Ch.ship, learned to chase the plastic bunny on coursing field & race track and.....March 6 - 2013 he has started with Fly-ball!
Aponi was meant to be an addition to the EU gene pool as well as a show dog, so he had to follow my usual protocol and March 2011 Aponi went for his heart & eye exam. As the rest of the family hadn't shown anything wrong, I was most unpleasantly surprised when his ECG showed extra beats or Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVCs)! The ultra sound was normal but those PVCs not at all so his career as a stud dog was out of the window :-(. In addition to that, the eye exam revealed 2 small spots on the retina of his right eye but not something to worry about. To be absolutely sure I had Aponi re-tested Oct.2012 but when nothing had changed, I had him neutered Jan.22 - 2013. Now he is no longer bothered by tasty smells whenever the girls are in season and I don't have to worry about a possible oops litter...

Silken shredders......

May 20-2010
Of course Aponi too could not resist the temptation of paper laying around.....no envelope, advertisement paper, paper napkin, little cardboard box was safe from him....
But as it was the 4 th year in a row that I had a puppy around, I was well used to picking up the bits and pieces.....which was always better than demolishing the couch or chewing on the chairs....

Visiting friends.

July 28-2010.
Seven months now, and Aponi is bigger than Dandy...
Before and after the trip to Slovenia we had spent a night @ friends in Nieuwstad so Aponi knew the people and animals there. His very first time he even managed to fall into the Koi pond....
In July we spent a whole weekend in Nieuwstad and Aponi had a good time, playing in the garden, smooching with Barbara, exploring new paths and smells during the walks and socialising with the dogs in the house.
Third trip to Slovenia.

September 23-2010.
With 3 shows planned, including a Silken Specialty to be judged by the breed's Founder Francie Stull, we really could not stay home! So we packed everything once more, hooked on the caravan and went South, for the 3rd time this year!
We had (again) a stop-over with Elvira & Rolf in Switzerland, and time for a nice walk along the nearby river.

Winter 2010 / 2011.

December 7-2010
We needed wintery pictures for the Christmas card so as soon as there was some snow on the ground, we went out to take some.
Aponi is almost 1 year old and has reached his final height of 63 cm
