Kristull Paladin at Bon Zoi'z, D.O.B. November 8 - 2006, C.I.C.

As soon as I read on the YahooList that Francie was planning to breed Jjuno, I asked her for a male puppy, to use with Jasmyn one day, and also to bring over Jjuno's genes as those weren't yet present in the European gene pool.
I had planned to pick up the new puppy during a visit to SilkenFest in St.Louis, May 2007 but I had not counted on the fact it would be 3 weeks after Jasmyn's tragic loss.. Still, it was very good for all of us to have a new youngster in the house, Boyzoi Dutchie missed his little girl friend very much. He was very happy with Paladin and overnight became his best friend, which they still are.

Paladin is a wonderful hound, getting along with about any dog, always willing to run and chase, or being chased, especially on the beach. He loves puppies and is great in teaching them the doggie ropes. His very favourite activity is chasing the plastic bunny, regardless if lure-coursing or on the race track, as long as he can run he is blissfully happy. But once the lure isn't moving anymore he will come to me when called....

After the successful German Specialty in 2008, Inken and I organised next Silken Specialty in Holland. Being a member of the Coursing Club WvCNL allowed us to have the show on the coursing field with lure-coursing the following day. Of the 11 Silkens entered, 8 ran well enough to fulfill the requirements for the CIC (Coursing Instinct Certified). For this the dogs had to run alone some 600 yards with at least 4 turns. The very cooperative team of the WvCNL laid out a real parcours so the dogs had to work really hard. All were given points by 2 judges and the final count revealed Paladin as nr.1, Starcastle Hounds Fire Fly nr.2 and Jagne's Black Cleithe nr.3.
As Paladin had just 2 show points more than the BISS winner of the previous day had coursing points, the B & P title was for him!
But Renaissance Ever Daydream quickly got the hang of the new game and next time he surely will do better!

First UK Track Winner, May 2012.

To prove his condition is still excellent, thanks to all the romping on the beach, Paladin was fastest of the 5 Silkens competing on the Greyhound track in Kent. The hounds were timed on 260 meters, they ran 2 rounds and the fastest decided the placement. Paladin did it in 20.66 seconds, closely followed by Aponi (Tangaloor Nothing but the Best), Fira (Starcastle Hounds Fire Fly, 8 yrs!), Lily (Firesmoke Spirit of Endevor) and, very surprising as it was her 1st time, Jane's Milly (Starborough Queen Amidala). Viewing results of previous trainings on that track revealed that only the trained Greyhounds and some Whippets were faster, most others (Afgans, Borzoi etc.) needed over 24 seconds for that same distance. As Fira ran those 260 m consistently in 22 seconds it shows that it is not just length of leg which decides who wins!
